Family notes:
• 2nd Artillery Battalion was formed at Mobile, Alabama, in Janaury, 1862, with 5 companies; later reduced to 3. It was attached to the Department of the Gulf, and after January, 1864, the Department of AL, MS, and East LA. The unit was stationed at or near Mobile throughout the war, and participated in the conflicts at Forts Gaines and Morgan, Spanish Fort, and Fort Blakely. With 64 officers and men it surrendered on May 4, 1865. Lt. Col. James H. Hallonquist was in command.

No. 60:(S) 1860 Census. They live next to Henry’s father. They have no children.
9/18/1861 Henry “Beaushar” at Ocean Springs enlisted into Co. A, 3rd MS Regt. under Capt. J B McRae. He was discharged 12/1862 in Vicksburg, MS because of sickness. Maltilda traveled with Henry and they cooked for the soldiers in the unit.
1870–1880. They lived a short time at Point Cadet, then moved to Saucier, then to a location 3 miles north of Long Beach.
2/10/1890 Henry died in Long Beach, HarrCo., MS; buried in Allen Cem. See picture – (S) Bouzage Bosarge, P219.
7/22/1916 in Gulfport, MS, Matilda applied for a Conf. Widow’s Pension. Living with her son.
1/20/1919, Matilda died, just one week after her only child; buried with Henry.

7/16/1860, (S) 1860 Census, MS, JaxCo., Ocean Springs. Living near Corinne’s parents in JaxCo. Ben’s 2 children by his 1st marriage to Delphine Moran, [d/o Joseph III, s/o Joseph II42i] lives with them.
~1865 Corinne died with her 3rd child in childbirth on Cat Island. She is buried on Cat Island.
~1889, Benson remarried to Adelle Grelot, d/o Joseph48viii.
6/25/1900 (S) 1900 Census, MS, JaxCo., Ben and Adel have 4 sons and a daughter live with them. Adel has had 10 children, 8 surviving.
11/14/1910 Benson died. Buried in Odd Fellows Cem., Bayou La Batre, AL.
