Bef. 1482, Thomas’ father died leaving Thomas’ brother Henry as heir. Henry had the family property in 1482, but he must have died soon after his father and Thomas became heir. [Supporting evidence is the fact that Henry is not named in the Herald’s visitation of 1565.]

[Undated] Thomas Hall, spouse of Alice Bower, daughter of William Norton of Wilton alias Bowyer, was summoned before the King’s Justices with reference to a debt of £100 owning to Sir John Turberville, Knight. He failed to make his appearance and was charged with something similar to "contempt of Court."  The penalty of “outlawry” soon followed. Thomas surrendered himself to justice, and for a time was an inmate of Fleet prison.

1483-85, Plaintiffs: Thomas Hall, merchant of the Staple of Calais. Defendants: Harry Cure. Subject: £65 in Flemish money given by complainant to Cure at Antwerp for £50 English to be paid to him by way of exchange. (S) UKNA.
