Sir John Fitzwilliam died seised of one messuage and 5 bovates of land in Westhathelsay, held of the King by military service and an annual rent of 40s.; of the manor of Emley, held of Henry Brounflete and Joan, Duchess of York, his wife, in socage, as of the manor of Wakefield: of the manor of Sprotburgh, held of the King as of the Duchy of Lancaster, and of the honour of Tikyll. That he died on Monday, after the Feast of the Translation of St Thomas the Martyr (7 July), in the previous year, and that John Fitzwilliam, his son, was 20 years old, on the Feast of the Assumption of the B.V.M.
