1383, John Domville, [maternal grandfather of Thomas] granted his arms to Thomas de Holes of Brimstage [Brunstath]. (S) The Twentieth Century, V39, 1896, P1027.

3/31/1392, John Domville grants to Thomas de Holes, his grandchild and heir, the son of Margaret (his daughter and heir) his manor of Modberleigh (now called Mobberley) in the county of Chester.

1398, Mary de Tabney, widow of Thomas Hyde, covenants with Cicely, daughter of William de Mobberley, to settle all she had in Nether Knotsford to herself, remainder to Hugh Hulse and Margery his wife, remainder to Thomas Hulse, their son, in tail; and so to Edmund, and Andrew, brothers of Thomas, to Elinour, to Elizabeth, sisters of Thomas, in tail, remainder to the said Cicely and her heirs. 10/10/1415, Order to David de Holbache, escheator in the county of Salop Westminster, and the adjacent march of Wales ; pursuant to an inquisition made by him showing that Hugh de Holes, knight … manors of Fordeshome and Neuport … Thomas de Holes is the son and next heir of the said Hugh, and 24 [34] years of age and more, to have full seisin. Hugh de Holes, Kt., was seized in his demesne, as of fee, … 3 messuages in Castellone, Chester, … of 3 stalls in the Dee, together with the boat … 1 grange, 1 woodhouse, and 1 dovecot in Hondgrugge; … land in Claverton, Neubold, and Hondbrugge withing the liberty of the said city, … 3 messuages in Chester … 2 gardens … the said Thomas was his son and heir.

By 3/7/1416, Thomas’ mother died.

9/25/1416, Thomas Holes with others in a recognizance of 100 marks to the King that John de Breeton keep the peace towards Edward de Wevere.

1420, Thomas, son and heir of Hugh, died holding a third part of the manor of Tillal in com. Heref., held of the king in capite; heir his son Thomas, age 2, Margaret age 10.

11/28/1420, Order to the escheator in the counties of Devon ; Wilts ; Worcester ; Lincoln ; Hertford ; Salop and the adjacent march of Wales ; Gloucester and the adjacent march of Wales ; Hereford and the adjacent march of Wales; to take into the king's hand and keep safely until further order all the lands in his bailiwick whereof Thomas Holes who held of the king in chief was seised in his demesne as of fee on the day of his death ; and to make inquisition touching his lands and heir. 5/12/1421, Commitment to William Troutebek (738736), esquire, of the keeping of all the lands in England and Wales and in the county of Chester late of Thomas Holes, who held of the king in chief by knight service on the day of his death ; to hold the same from the time of the death of the said Thomas until the lawful age of Margery his daughter and heir, together with the marriage of the heir.
