3/11/1642, Louise born in St Aubin de Tourouvre, Orne, France; d/o 3640. Jean Issac Roussin & 3641. Madeleine Giguere.

1651, Louise, with her father and sister Madeleine, arrived in New France. [Her mother died in France. Her sibilings Nicolas and Francoise also traveled the same year.]

6/24/1659, Jacques and Antoine Pepin dit Lachance bought land from Denis Guyon, 2.25 arpents in width in Ste Famille, next to Jacques Bilodeau.

2/2/1660, Jacques confirmed in Chateau Richer by Bishop Laval.

1661, Jacques, a sailor [likely operated a barge on the river], was owed 50 livres by Louis Gagne.

7/17/1661, Jacques leased his farm to Pierre Houdon for half the harvest. Jacques retained a cabin to live in and gave 100 livres for Pierre to clear 2 arpents of land.

6/15/1662, Jacques the godfather to Marie, d/o Jean Lehoux & Elisabeth Drugeon.

6/22/1662, Jacques, identified as a sailor, was receded his land by Lauzon [likely because Denis Guyon did not live up to his commitments as part of the original contract.] Jacques to pay 20 sols tournois in land rent, plus 12 deniers for the cens for each arpent of frontage.

7/2/1662, at the home of widow Anne Ardouin, Jacques Asselin contracted to marry Louise Roussin. Attending: Nicolas Roussin [Louise’ brother], Jean Roussin, Marie Letard, Michel Huppe [Louise’s brother-in-law], Pierre Loignon [Louise’s brother-in-law], David Asselin [Jacques brother], Charles Gautier, Jean Premont, Pierre Dufresne, Blaise Terre and Jacques David dit Pontife. Jacques offered a dowery of 300 livres.

7/29/1662 in Chateau Richer, a Saturday, Jacques, a sailor, married Louise. Both origins given. Origin of Louise’s father also given. Louise’s mother is not named. Attending: David Asselin – brother of Jacques, Nicolas Roussin and Pierre Longnon – brothers of Louise.

1662, Jacques gave a minot of wheat as his tithe at Sainte Anne du Petit Cap.

1663, Jacques gave thirty sols as his tithe at Sainte Anne du Petit Cap.

1665, Jacques Asselin’s land is next to that of Jacques Billaudeau on the north side of I.O., in what was then Charny-Lirec. [Essentially in Ste Famille.]

1666 census, Jacques had Nicolas de LaRuelle, a mason and servant, living with him.

1667 census in Ste Famille, Jacques had 6 cattle, 13 arpents under cultivation; Jacques’ brother David lived with him and had 10 arpents under cultivation; servant Francois Biguigny.

1/30/1671, Jacques owed 14 livres to Bertrand Chenay.

3/6/1673, Jacques, a “close neighbor” of Nicolas Gendron, one of the appraisers of Nicolas’ estate.

9/8/1678 in Ste Famille, I.O., Jacques attended the wedding of 2006. Jean Rabouin & 2007. Marguerite Leclerc.

1681 census in Ste Famille, I.O.: Jacques age 50, wife age 30, 8 children, a gun, 10 cattle, 30 arpents of land.

2/28/1687, Jacques bought 2.5 arpents from widow Vivienne Brunell, located near his farm, for 600 livres.

11/10/1687, Jacques and Louise residents of Ste Famille, I.O. (S) Wedding of son Jacques.

2/26/1688, Jacques attended the burial of Marie Marthe Hubert, widow of his friend Nicolas Gendron.

2/15/1694, Jacques Asselin and Jacques Bilodeau ceded land of Louis de Villeray to Claude Charland.

1694, Jacques and Louise gave land to their son Nicolas.

1/24/1700, Jacques and Louis left the rest of the family property to son Michel, who was to take care of them for the rest of their lives.

11/10/1700, son Michel took possession of half of the family property as part of his marriage contract.
