11/25/1622, Jeanne born in Les Sables d’Olonne, Lucon, Poitou, France; d/o 14386. Loup Mercier & 14387. Jeanne Gaillard.

Calude was educated and learned to write his name.

6/11/1636, Claude arrived in Quebec on the vessel of Sieur Courpon.

8/8/1639 in Quebec, Claude, age 23, married Jeanne, age 17. Attending: Robert Giffard, Guillaume Boivin.

1/1/1641, Claude and family lived in Trois Rivieres.

1/14/1641, Claude godfather to Amerindian Rose Quenebechimouxour.

Bef. 1645, Claude and family returned to France where 2 children are born.

4/7/1646 in Paris, France, Oliver le Tardif ceded Claude 6 arpents in Beaupre.

1647, Claude and family returned to New France.

11/11/1650, Claude and Abel Benoit contracted with Olivier Tardif to work a farm, called Toussaincts, together for 6 years.

9/18/1651, Claude granted a full concession of 6 arpents frontage from Olivier Le Tardiff in what would become Ste Anne de Beaupre.

Claude donated 50 livres to a new church.

2/2/1660, Claude and multiple daughters were confirmed by Msgr. Laval at Chateau Richer.

1661, the Jesuits recorded that 2 of Claude’s children were likely taken by the “Yroquois”.

1661, Claude gave 16 livres to the church.

1662-66, Claude gave the church fabrique [account] 8 livres, 7 minots of wheat, and a minot each of peas and corn.

1663, Claude received 22 livres, 9 sols for the scroll on the church door, for a piece of wood, and for a pint of eau-de-vie.

6/7/1665, Claude ceded to Abel Benoit 7 perches of frontage.

1666 census, Claude a carpenter.

1667 census, Claude with 8 cattle and 20 arpents of land.

9/30/1670 in Ste Anne de Beaupre, Claude attended the wedding of 1936. Nicolas Bouchard & 1937. Anne LeRoy.

1678, Claude strengthened the bell tower of the church.

1679, Jeanne provided food to the roofers of the church; for which she received 3 minots of wheat and 12 pounds of butter from the pastor.

11/11/1681 in Chateau Richer, Claude attended the weddings of 1864. Charles Fortin dit Bellefontaine & 1865. Marie Sainte Cloutier; and 2008. Pascal Mercier & 2009. Anne Cloutier.

12/14/1687, Jeanne, age 65, died in Beaupre.

12/17/1687, Claude, age 71, died in Beaupre. [There was an epidemic that year. Their children gave 72 livres to the church for their burials.]

1661, Rene lost in the woods or taken by the Iroquois.

11/13/1689 in Beaupre, Pierre married Anne, d/o Robert Giguere & Amiee Miville.
10/16/1709, Pierre, age 45, died in Hotel Dieu du Quebec.
