50½ hides in Bedfordshire—extending into the parishes of Astwick, Henlow,
Holme, Langford, Milton, Odell, Podington, Stratton, Southill, Thurleigh,
Totternhoe, Turvey, and Wymington, nearly 44 hides in Northants, 6 hides 1½
virgates in Hertfordshire, 1 hide and 1 virgate in Buckinghamshire. [These
lands had been held by Levenot and Lewin, both of Edward the Confessor.] The
barony of Wahull was attached the liability to provide castle-guard of Rockingham
in Northants. That castle was constructed by William the Conqueror some time
previous to the Survey.
