6/1282, Wiliam de Valence, lord of Pembroke, to Edward I: request for an essoin for Robert de Val. (S) UKNA.

Family notes:

·         There is a “Robert de la Val” of Northumberland who died the same year. His heir was his sister Margaret, wife of Andrew de Smytheton. This Robert’s wife was also named Margaret, who survivied. (S) CCRs, 1/24/1298.

·         1303, Geoffrey Hascard as to rent at Johnston calles upon the heirs of Robert de Vale to warrant, … Gilbert de la Roche of Llangum, husband of a daughter (1) and father of David ; John Wogan, who had married Margaret (2) ; Thomas de Rosshall, who had married Nesta (3) widow of Roger Corbet ; Llywelyn ap Owen (a descendent of the Lord of Rhys) who married Elen de Vale (4) and had Trefgarn Owen for his share (their youngest son Thomas had 2 daughters, one of whom was the mother of Owen Glyndwr, and the other the grandmother of Owen Tudor), and (5) John de Sutton, husband of another daughter (5), [possibly Sarah (6) who married William of Philbeach.]

Margaret married John Wogan.

iii. Nesta de Vale (4997453), born ~1260 in England.

iv. Ellen de Vale, born ? in England.

Ellen married Llywelyn ap Owen.
