6/6/1333, Thomas [Wale] (stepfather) and Nichole, his wife, and Giles, son of Robert [de A]rderne, querents … Thomas, the guardian of Giles … 4 messuages, 4 virgates of land and 23 pence of rent in Swaleclyue. … shall remain to Thomas Wale and Nichole and Giles and the heirs of Giles, to hold together with the aforesaid tenements of the chief lords for ever. 1366, Sir Giles holding of Drayton [Oxford] disputed by Elizabeth of Swinford, who claimed possession as the descendant of Sir Thomas Arden of Hanwell and Rose Vernon. [The defence asserted that her ‘Thomas’ was a bastard and she lost her case.] (S) C.P. 40/429, m. 396.

1375, Giles and Margaret’s son Giles died, leaving 2 granddaughters as their heirs.

1380, Margaret held a third the manor of Drayton in Dower. [The other 2/3rds held by the granddaughters.]

Margaret married 2nd Walter Power.

11/17/1381, Writ of Mandamus for Giles de Arderne, or Dardern. Oxford: … messuage and virgate in Dunstywe … manors of Drayton and Zelbury and messuage in Bannebery … manor of Hornlee and messuages etc. in Swalclyve in joint feoffment with Margaret, his wife, who is still living … Dunstywe. A messuage and a virgate of land … Drayton. The manor, … Zelbury. The manor, … Hornlee. The manor … He died beyond seas about the feast of St. Martin, 50 Edward III. Margaret and Joan, daughters of Giles [de Arderne, his son], aged respectively 8 years and 6 years, are his heirs. Since his death, (1) Henry de Arderne, knight, has occupied 2/3rds of the manor of Drayton and received the profits thereof … Walter Power and Margaret, his wife, formerly wife of the said Giles, have occupied the remaining third part of the manor by way of Margaret’s dower, … (S) CIsPM.

1384-85, Walter Power, leased Margaret’s life interest in Drayton to Sir Richard Abberbury. [His sister Lucy (3802797) married to Richard de Arches, who’s son Richard would marry Margaret’s granddaughter Joan (1901399).]

Magraret died.
