7/17/1871, Roxie born in Lafayette Co., MS, d/o 26. Andrew Elias Smith & 27. Martha Lovinia ?. (S) Dollahite Family Bible.
No.13:(S) 1880 Census, Lafayette Co., MS. Roxie.
2/19/1888 in Tallahatchie Co. at 2:30 on a Sunday afternoon, MS, Robert and Roxsie married by Rev. N T Horn in the presence of Mr John Newman and Miss Mollie Horn. (S) Dollahite Family Bible. Bondsman: C S Smith. (S) Original Marriage Certificate issued 2/17/1888; registered 3/28/1888. [“C S Smith” is likely her uncle who married her aunt Sarah J Dollahite.]
12/14/1888, Roxie was in Memphis for the birth of her son Edward.
6/20/1900, (S) 1900 Census, MS, Tallahatchie Co., Harrison. n: ”Robbert”.
4/19/1910, (S) 1910 Census, MS, Alcorn Co., 3-WD, Corinth. Living at 1115 ? St [next to Bush St.] Both Robert and Roxy could read and write. Roxy has had 8 children, 6 of which were still living. Roxy: Fb: GA, Mb: MS.
1/9/1920, (S) 1920 Census, MS, Yalobusha Co., 11-TWP, 2-BT. Occ: farmer. Owned home free of mortgage. Roxy: Fb: MS, Mb: MS.
12/25/1922, Roxy’s son “Eddie” sent her a Christmas card addressed to: “Mrs R. E. Dollahite, 277 Maryland Ave., Memphis, TN, from Prescott, AZ. (S) Original letter.
9/30/1927, Robert & Roxie held the wedding of their daughter Alice in their home in Water Valley. Daughter-in-law Elizabeth (7) with grandaughter Virginia (3) attended the wedding; as did daughter Ozie and her family.
[1927–1928, the “railroad shops” pulled out of Water Valley which was devasting to the economy.]
4/15/1930, (S) 1930 Census, MS, Yalobusha Co., Watervalley, Distr. 8. Occ: Delivering newspapers.
7/13/1934,  Roxie bought the remaining half of the burial lot where her daughter Bernice was buried from her son-in-law Aaron.
4/1/1935, Robert and Roxie live in Watervalley, MS. (S) 1940 Census.
12/30/1939, Robert elected Justice of the Peace, 2nd District, Yalobusha Co., MS. (S) MS Appointment Certificate.
4/22/1940, Robert and Roxie lives at 307 Simmons St., Watervalley, MS. They rent their home for $6 a month. Robert completed 2 years of high school, Roxie completed 1 year. Robert repairs sewing machines. Their daughter Ozzie lives next door at 305 Simmons St. (S) 1940 Census. [They live with the family of Oscar Davis and his wife Francis.]
2/20/1949, “Mr. and Mrs. R. E. Dollahite celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary with a family dinner in the home of their daughter, Mrs. S. E. Dalton, on Sunday, February 20. Mr. and Mrs. S. E. Dalton Jr. and son, Sammie, came up from Grenada to help celebrate this great occasion. Besides Mrs Dalton, Mr. and Mrs. Dollahite have two other children, a son in Memphis and a daughter in Germany.” (S) Newspaper clipping.
3/9/1950, Roxie died in Watervalley, Yalobusha Co., MS. She had suffered for several years from “semi-invalidism”. Buried the next day in Oak Hill Cem., Water Valley, MS.
5/9/1950, Robert died two months after Roxie. He had been in poor health for several years. Robert, a Methodist, died at the home of his daughter Ozie. He was buried the next day next to Roxie. (S) Obituary in Memphis Commerical Appeal, 5/10/1950.
Family notes:
·         Martha Jane Scott, granddaughter of Robert and Roxie, told of visiting her grandfather when he was older and making entries in his JOP registers. He preferred she do it because his hands shook.

1/12/1914, Pearl married Norman Erastus Chadwick, born 8/28/1880 in Russell, AL. (S) Dollahite Family Bible. Marriage performed by Rev. T H Dorsey.
9/12/1918, Norman lives at 541 Penn in McComb, MS; and is a “loco fireman” for a railroad. He has blue eyes and brown hair. He lists his son as next of kin. (S) WWI Draft Card.
1/19/1920, (S) 1920 Census, MS, Pike Co., McComb. They live at 706 4th St. they own a mortgaged home. He is a teamster?. Doris is visiting Pearl.
4/17/1930, (S) 1930 Census, MS, Pike Co., McComb. They own their home at 706 4th St., valued at $2500. Norman is an engineer for the railroad. Norman is not a veteran.
9/8/1931 at 6:30 AM on a Tuesday, Pearl died at her home, 706 Fourth St., McComb, MS; buried in Hollywood Cem. Funeral services were held at Centenary Methodist Church. (S) Funeral Notice & (S) Dollahite Family Bible.
1957, Norman died.

Norman E Chadwick Jr, born 11/19/1917 in Pike Co., MS. (S) Dollahite Family Bible.
1938 Norman enlisted in the Army; stationed at Camp Shelby, MS. He is a section hand for a railway.
He lived in Laurel, MS and drove a truck for North American Van Lines. [Martha Jane Scott remembers him visiting them in VA in the early 50’s].
William Allen Chadwick, born 7/2/1920 in MS. (S) Dollahite Family Bible.
6/30/1943, William enlisted in the Army; stationed at Camp Shelby, MS. His civilian occupation was a machinist helper.
12/24/1944, a Private in the 311th Inf., 78th Div.; he died in military service in the Netherlands where he was buried. He was awarded the Purple Heart.
iii. Minnie Dollahite, born 2/17/1892 in MS.
3/7/1896, age 4 years 27 days, Minnie died. (S) Dollahite Family Bible.
iv. Andie Dollahite, born 10/16/1894 in MS.
2/4/1895, age 3 months 16 days, Andie died. (S) Dollahite Family Bible.
v. Almer Dollahite, born 2/10/1896 in MS.
4/18/1896, age 2 months 8 days, Almer died. (S) Dollahite Family Bible.
vi.  Ozia Lottie Dollahite, born 12/3/1898 in MS.

4/2/1930, (S) 1930 Census, MS, Yalobusha Co., Water Valley. They own their home at 305 Simmons St., valued at $2500. Sam is an assistant foreman for a bridge gang. He is not a veteran.
7/24/1932, The funeral service of Ozie’s little sister Bernice was held at her home in Water Valley.
4/1/1935, Sam and Ozzie live in Watervalley, MS. (S) 1940 Census.
1939, Same earned $1600. (S) 1940 Census.
4/22/1940, Sam, Ozzie, and Sam Jr live at 307 Simmons St., Watervalley, MS. They own their home worth $1500. Sam completed 4 years of high school, Ozzie completed 1 year. Sam Jr. had completed 2 years of college. Ozzie’s parents live next door at 307 Simmons St. Sam is a ‘B & B’ carpenter for Stearn Railroad Co. (S) 1940 Census.
2/14/1950 at 9:45 AM, a Tuesday, Sam died; buried in Oak Hill Cem., Water Valley, MS.
5/1950, They were living in Water Valley when her father died.  Ozie paid the funeral expenses.
1973, Ozia lived at 305 Simmons St., Water Valley, MS. [This was next door to where her parents had lived.]
9/23/1981 at 12:20 AM, a Wednesday, Ozia died at the Water Valley general hospital; buried with Sam. (S) Dollahite Family Bible.

Sam Ervin Dalton, born 12/14/1920 at 6:50 PM in Water Valley, MS. (S) Dollahite Family Bible.
He married 2nd Margaret Newsom, born 12/31/1919.
He served in the Navy in WWII on the SSBM3.
1973, They lived at 354 Walthall, Grenada, MS, 38901.
11/30/1999, He died; buried in Oak Hill Cem., Water Valley, MS.
2006, She was moved to a nursing home in Jackson, MS.

1933-4, The family lived in MS. (S) Births of daughters Narnia and Audrey.
4/1/1935, Robert and family live in Memphis, TN. (S) 1940 Census.
4/15/1940, Robert, Gertrude, and 7 children live at 1325 Latham St., Memphis, TN. They rent their home for $18 a month. Robert had completed 1 year of high school. Gertrude had completed 4 years of high school. Robert is a fireman for the railroad. (S) 1940 Census.
5/1950, They were living in Memphis when his father died.
1966, Robert, age 65, died of lung cancer in Memphis, TN.
11/16/1981 Gertrude died in Memphis, TN.

4/16/1930, (S) 1930 Census, TN, Memphis. They live in an apartment on Fleetwood St. Alice is a stenographer for a loan examiner. Arnold’s job is “Puntir”.
4/1/1935, Arnold and Doris live in Shelby Co., TN. (S) 1940 Census.
1939, Arnold earned $2600. (S) 1940 Census.
5/2/1940, Arnold W., Doris A., and daughters Martha J. and Carolyn S. live in the unincorporated community of Oakville, in Shelby Co., TN. They own their home on Echles avenue valued at $2200. Arnold had completed 1 year of college. Doris had completed 12 years of school. Martha J., age 8, had completed 1 year of school. Carolyn S., age 5. Arnold is a linotype operator for a newspaper. 1940, They were mobilized and sent to Ft. Jackson, SC.
1942, They moved to Ft. Oglethorpe, GA.
They moved to Battlecreek, MI [Ft. Custer.]
4/1947, Arnold, US Army Band Director, sent to Germany. [The family lived with Ozzie about 6 months before following him oversees.]
5/1950, They were living in Munich, Germany when her father died.
1973, They lived at 3602 Barcroft View Terrace, Bailey’s Crossroads, VA 22041.
8/17/1988 at 2:05 AM, a Wednesday, Alice died in Aurora, CO. (S) Dollahite Family Bible.
6/8/1991, Arnold died.

7/23/1932 at 4:25 AM, Martha died of TB in Yalobusha Co., MS. Buried in Oak Hill Cem., Water Valley, MS, in an unmarked grave next to her parents. (S) Dollahite Family Bible. Obituary: “Mrs Aaron Baddley, 23, died Sunday after a protracted illness of two years standing. Funeral services were conducted Monday by Rev. J. D. Wroten at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Sam Dalton. Burial was made in Oak Hill Cemeter.”
