12/18/1845, Martha born in NC; d/o 54. Lawson Smith & 55. Sarah ?. [Martha indicates in census records that she was born in MS. The 1850 Census of her parents indicate she was born in NC.]
9/4/1850, MS, Yalobusha Co. Martha lives with her parents. See No. 54.
11/21/1850, Andrew lives with his parents in Lafayette Co., MS. (S) See No.52.
9/1/1860, MS, Lafayette Co., Paris. Martha lives with her parents. See No. 54.
9/3/1860, Andrew lives with his parents in Paris, Lafayette Co., MS. (S) See No.52.
2/25/1870, a railroad accident occurred between Oxford and Water Valley when a trestle collapsed while a train was crossing. The accident made national newspapers, including the 3/18/1870 issue of the New York Harper’s Weekly.

1873, Andrew was a Mason in the Bynum Creek Lodge, No. 357 in Water Valley. (S) Masonic Obituary in Water Valley’s “Mississippi Central” newspaper.
12/23/1873, “25 minutes before 2 in the morning”, Andrew died. (S) Dollahite Family Bible.
6/6/1880, (S) 1880 Census, MS, Lafayette Co., Bt4. Martha, a widow, is a seamstress.
2/3/1881 at 3 PM in Lafayette Co., Martha and James Alexander Brewer, born 7/8/1858 in MS, were married by Rev. George C Pritchard. (S) Dollahite Family Bible.
6/29/1900, (S) 1900 Census, MS, Tallahatchie Co., Hermison?. James runs and “edge saw”. Martha has had 4 children, 3 surviving. The 2 youngest daughters live with them. [This census indicates her parents were born in NC.]
8/21/1907, James died. (S) Family record.
5/27/1910, (S) 1910 Census, MS, Panola Co. Martha “Mattie S Brewer” lives with her daughter Lillie. She has had 4 children, 3 surviving.
1/2/1916, “Sunday evening at four thirty”, Martha died. (S) Dollahite Family Bible.

4/25/1930, (S) 1930 Census, MS, Panola Co., Bt3. They rent their home. He is not a veteran. The youngest 4 children are in school. John is a farmer.
12/20/1960, Lillie, “of Courtland”, died; buried in Shilo UMC Cem.
4/8/1963, John died in Panola Co.; buried in Shilo Cem.

12/23/1942, a geographer with 2 years of high school, he enlisted in the Army in Panola Co. and was sent to Camp Shelby.

Jessee Wm Shankle, born 10/29/1918 in MS.
3/17/1941, an automobile service man, having completed 3 years of high school, he enlisted in the Army at Camp Shelby.
6/12/1991, he died in Batesville, Panola Co., MS; buried in Shilo UMC Cem. (S) SSDI.
Katherine Shankle, born 1921 in MS.
She married Joe Hawkins. (S) Obit of her parents.
