The complete citation establishes that Mathurin Ladner dit Chritian80 and Nicholas Ladner86 were brothers; Juan20 is clearly established as s/o Mathurin40 and Marie41; the parenthood of Maria21 is established; it implies 1) that Maria21 gave birth to least one child prior to their marriage; and 2) that they are anxious to marry because she is again pregnant.
• “ A dispensation of the Consanguinity in the 2nd degree of kinship of Jean Baptiste Ladenaire to contract marriage with Marie Morin. … Jean Ladenaire, native of this Province, legitimate son of Santiago Ladenaire and Marie Carco, living natives of this Province, before your Reverence, that there be no further occasion of begetting offspring, … it is a fact that they have been acquainted with and know my father, Santiago Ladenaire, and Louise Ladenaire, mother of my fiancée, and they know they are 1st cousins, … and the father of those two were brothers; … may your Reverence be pleased to grant me the necessary dispensation to contract marriage with the aforementioned woman, … this marriage is of such absolute necessity and indispensable, because the public has such a bad opinion of my fiancée. …
• “Furthmore, since I find myself on Deer Island, with my father quarantined, having smallpox, which is going around the city, for this reason my father cannot be present. May it please your Reverence to order your findings sent to the pastor at Mobile. …
• On July 20th in New Orleans, … having seen the application and the application in Jean Baptiste ladenaire’s benefit, dispenses him from the diriment impediment … so that he will be able to contract marriage … in consequence I do declare the children they have legitimized, and, your Excellency, I order that they abstain from living under the same style and all communication and relations, and that they make a general confession to put them back in an edifying state from a life of scandal which through ignorance led to dishonoring his fiancée; …
• “Before me, the undersigning a Notary Public in and for said State and Co., personally appeared F H Laurendine of Mobile, Alabama, who upon ?? and says that - He heard his mother and father speak of old John B Ladnier and Mary Josey Moran Ladnier. .. He remembers Alphonse Ladnier when he kept a store at Moss Point, Miss. ... That he remembers Manuel Ladnier who was known as Glazier, and lived on Dauphin Island; and his mother taught school there he, P. H. Laurendine, used to spend his summers on the Island. That ...
