6/9/1644, Sir William Clerke of Ford in Wrotham, “at the age of 36 was killed with his friend Sir W. Boteler in the skirmish at Cropredy Bridge 29 June 1644, exclaiming as he fell “Look to Sir William Boteler, for I see he is wounded.” [He also died.]
