608. John Purdy & 609. Elizabeth Brown [CT, NY]


~1645 John born in Fairfield, CT, s/o 1216. Francis Purdy Sr and 1217. Mary Brundish.
1648, Elizabeth born in CT d/o 1218. Peter Brown and 1219. Elizabeth ?.
John moved to Rye, NY.
5/2/1678, living in Rye, Deliverance Browne, John Purdy, Francis Purdy and Joseph Purdy all sold their land in Fairfield to Moses Dimon.
1678 John died in Rye. Elizabeth was an administrator. Elizabeth Purdy asked in court that “my father John Hoit [her step-father-in-law] and my brother Thomas Browne might stand overseers, or my brother Hacaliah Browne.”
5/8/1679, “This Court doe grant liberty to John Brandig [Brundish2434iii – John’s maternal uncle] and Eliz: Purdy, who are administrators of the estate of John Purdy of Rye, deceased, to make, signe, seale and deliver unto Francis Purdy [John’s brother] deeds of sale for the one halfe of those lands John Purdy afoarsayd bought from John Jackson, lyeing in Rye, which were purchased for the sayd Francis Purdy intentionally as appears by sundry testimonies exhibited in this court by Mr. John Banks: which sayd deeds of sale compleated according to law shall have full force and vertue to hold the dayd lands firm to the sayd Francis Purdy, his heirs and assignes forever.” (S) Colonial CT Records, 1636-1776, V3, P28.

2/19/1722, John bought the land of Joseph Studwell. (S) Greenwich, Landowners From The First Indian Deed 1640 to 1752.
Bef. 1729, John died. (S) Deed of son Daniel.
Children:
Daniel Purdy, born ~1697.
5/15/1729, Daniel of Rye, son of John – deceased, granted the Presbyterian Society land. Witnesses Thomas Purdy Joseph Purdy, Samuel Brown ….

ii. Thomas Purdy ( 304), born ~1677.
