·         “The last John [Churchill] had issue, by his wife Joane one of the daus. & heirs of Roger Dauney of Norton Dauney by his wife Julian the only dau. and heir of Widdibere of Widdibere alias Woodbere in Devonshire.” (S) Wiltshire Magazine, 1879, P282.

·         [The following ‘Thomas Daunay’ had no son named ‘Roger’, and the eldest was born in 1365 .] “The said Sir Nicholas died 7th of Edward 3, and by Elizabeth, his Wife, had two Sons, Sir John; and Thomas, who married Elizabeth, Daughter and heir of John Newton of Snaith in Yorkshire, Esq; and fixed his Resident at Escrick, where he lived II Rich 2. Thomas’ Issue were, John, Nicholas, William and [half-brother] Nicholas Rosselyn. (S) Yorkshire Deeds, V9, 2013, P73.

ii. Margaret Dawney, born ? in England.
