11/18/1438, Commitment to William Ludlowe … of the keeping of the manor and town of Ludgarsale, co. Wilts, which are in the king's hand by the death of Joan late queen of England, … (S) CFRs.

1440, William held the manor of Ludgershall. (S) Hist. of Wiltshire, V15, 1995, Ludgershall.

1449, Ludgershall castle granted in tail to William Ludlowe the Parker of Ludgersdale. [Revoked before 1453.] (S) Hist. of Wiltshire, V15, 1995, Ludgershall.

William died.

Family notes:

·         The records favor Margaret not being the d/o William Ludlowe of Salisbury (d.1478). The various pedigrees appear to mix the records of at least 2 other persons of the name “William Ludlowe” contemporay with this William, 1 in Shropshire, and another in the King’s service. [They cannot be in Shropshire, Wiltshire, and France all at the same time.]

Margaret 1st married ‘John Erley’ of Ludgershall, Wiltshire.
