1735, Clifton born in Salem Co., NJ; s/o 624. Clifton Bowen & 625. Elizabeth Harris.

~1756, Clifton married Martha in Duplin Co., NC.

11/13/1763, at the house of Thomas Haws in Duplin Co., Clifton Bowen Sr and Jr, “Good and Lawful Men of the Parish of St Gabriel”, were part of an inquiry into the death of John Register, planter. [Both signed their names.]

10/2/1775, Clifton sold 80 acres to his son Elijah, “on the west side of the main branch of Rock Fish Creek”, for 17 pounds.

2/27/1776, as a member of the NC militia, Clifton was present at The Battle of Moore’s Creek Bridge; a battle between 1000 American patriots and 1500 Scottish soldiers serving King George III.

1779, Lt. Clifton Bowen served under Capt. Aaron Williams in the Rev. War.

10/22/1779, Clifton signed a petition to divide Bladen, Duplin, and New Hanover counties.

1781, Clifton honorably dischared because of pulminory ailment.

10/25/1781, Clifton paid 4000 pounds for his military service. (S) NC Archives.

12/11/1781, Clifton paid 15 pounds, 3 shillings for his military service. (S) NC Archives.

3/16/1782, Clifton paid 6 pounds, 19 shillings for his military service. (S) NC Archives.

12/12/1782, Clifton paid an 2 pounds, 6 shillings for his military service. (S) NC Archives.

10/2/1783, Clifton sold to son John, both planters of Duplin Co., 100 acres on Doctors Creek. Son Elijah was a witness to the deed.

Clifton moved his family to Effingham Co., GA.

7/18/1785, “Clifton Bowen’s corner” mentioned in the land deal of Thomas Crumpton of Duplin Co.

8/3/1789, Clifton died in Effingham Co. [Bullock Co.], GA; buried in Wilmington Co., NC.

2/9/1799, Elijah married Elizabeth Davis.
1782, Elijah enlisted in the Rev. War under Capt. Robert Merritt.
12/1804, Elijah married Sabry Little.
12/31/1837, Elijah died in Tattnall Co., GA; buried in Mt. Moriah Church Cem., Toombs Co., GA.

1783, Amelia married Luke Pridgen.
