11/12/1715 in Baie St Paul, Etienne married Marie, a resident of St Francois Xavier de la Petite Riviere. Neither was able to sign. All parents named. Etienne’s father Pierre was present, as well as Marie’s father Jacques. Attending: Rene Delavoye, Antoine Bouchard, Joseph Pinguet, Claude Gautier.

5/2/1735 in Les Eboulements, Etienne attended the wedding of 458. Thomas Cote & 459. Marie Genevieve Gagnon.

10/17/1736 in Les Eboulements, Etienne attended the burial of his father, the Seigneur of les Eboulements. [Etienne inherited the title, but his mother retained directorship. “Eboulements” – landslides caused by an earthquake in 1663.]

Etienne and his brothers Louis and Jean were craftsmen involved in making canoes. They employed Montagnais Indian craftworkers. Church records indicated the brother and their wives were friends and associates of the native populations.

1737 … Etienne and his two brothers appear as godfathers to multiple Indian children.

6/26/1752, Etienne officially becomes Seigneur when his mother concedes the manor.

5/8/1756, Etienne hosted Louis-Joseph, Marquis de Montcalm, at his house to plan an attack against the English army. Etienne’s brother Jean was a member of the militia.

1/7/1760 at Les Eboulements, Etienne and his two brothers all witnessed the wedding of a Montagnais man and a Mik’maq woman.

9/20/1767, Etienne, age 78, Seigneur des Eboulements, died in Les Eboulements.

1/27/1784, Marie died in Les Eboulements.
