Claude traveled to Canada.

12/5/1646 in Sillery, Claude witnessed a bill of sale.

1/8/1652 in Quebec, Claude married Jacqueline Desbordes, d/o Dimanche Borde and Radegonde Valentin. [3 children.]

1/23/1652, the Jesuits made a concession to Claude at Sillery, about 2 arpents frontal by 20 deep.

1653-54, the residents of Sillery built Fort Sainte-Francois-Xavier for a cost of 571 livres. [This displaced some of Claude’s river frontage.]

8/17/1654, Claude attended the wedding of Jean Beriau & Francoise Pelletier.

1658, Claude was nearly captured by Iroquois while working in his field.

4/26/1661, the church census identified Claude as already holding land on the Ile de Orleans.

9/24/1662, Claude sold his consession at Sillery for 200 livres tournois, identifying the right of succession belonging to the children of Jacqueline, and of relocating to Ile de Orleans [parish of St Pierre, later Ste. Famille.]

10/31/1663, Nicolas Gendron appeared before the Soverign Council seeking payment for a pig killed by Claude Charland about 6 weeks earlier. Claude admitted killing the pig, which had damaged his crops, even though he had a stong fence. Nicolas was fined 10 livres for threatening Claude as they were leaving the court.

1664, Claude had a debt of 150 livres, 3 sols, 6 deniers to Jacques Cauchon dit Lamothe of Chateau Richer for merchandise.

8/29/1664, Claude, of Ile de Orleans, owed Etienne Blanchard, from La Rochelle, 131 livres.

3/20/1665, Lauzon ceded Charles 2 arpents frontal on the north side in Ste Famille. [The land of 1661.]

2/7/1667, Claude mortaged his property to merchant Charles Bazire for 280l, 16s, 5d.

5/8/1667, Jeanne traveled into Quebec where she arranged with Marie Barbe de Boulogne to acquire an 11-year-old milk cow with a 2-month old calf, agreeing to supply the widow d’Ailleboust 20 pounds of butter each year.

7/19/1677, Claude was hired by Simon Richon to cut and winnow his grass, for which Claude could keep half.

1681 census of Ste Famille, I.O.; Claude 60, Jeanne 44, children: Noel 29, Denis 25, Jeanne 19, Marie 15, Michelle 14, Marie 13, Gabriel 11, Claude 9, Joseph 7, Louise 5, Genevieve 2; 1 gun, 7 cattle, 30 arpents.

6/20/1684, Pierre Lognon leased his farm to Claude for 7 years, allowing Claude to use his animals.

1689, Claude owned a lime kiln.

3/25/1693, Claude reached an agreement with the heirs of Pierre Lognon, deceased, over working the farm.

2/15/1694, Jacques Asselin and Jacques Bilodeau ceded working the land of Louis de Villeray to Claude Charland.

6/9/1694, Jeanne a patient at Hotel Dieu du Quebec.

3/2/1697, Claude given a receipt from the wife of a merchant saying he had paid is 22 livre debt.

2/1698, Francoise hospitalized at Hotel Dieu de Quebec.

6/13/1698, Claude had an overdue account with deceased Hughes Cochran dit Floridor for 181l, 3s, 6d.

8/9/1701, Jeanne owed 60l to Rene Bauche dit Morency.

11/21/1701, Claude, appearing at the Soverign Council, insisted that Andre Gauthier be held to providing for his daughter Louise’s child.

12/2/1702–10/10/1708, Jeanne died in Ste Famille, I.O. (S) Wedding of son Gabriel in 1708.

1/22/1705, a Thursday, Claude, age 79, buried in Ste Famille, I.O.
