1324, Walter de Tril and Ela his wife, querents, …, deforciant; for 13 messuages, 8 acres, and 6 virgates of land and a half, 23 acres of meadow and a half, 11 acres of pasture, 10 acres of wood, 106s. 9d. rent, and a rent of a pound of pepper, 2 pounds of cumin, and a rose, in Westmerssh and Kyngeston juxta Yeuele and Kyngeswode juxta Hardyngton and half the advowson of the chapel of Kyngeston. … to Walter and Ela to hold to them for their lives; and after their decease to remain to William de Carente and Joan his wife and their issue; and if they die without issue then to Nicholas son of Michael de Stoure and his heirs. 1/24/1327, Edward III, age 14, succeeded Edward II as King of England.

1344-45, John de Chidiocke, querant; and Robert Fitz Payn and Ela his wife, deforciants; for the manor of Kyngeston juxta Modeford Terry and for the advowson of the chapel of the same manor, Robert and Ela acknowledged the right of John, and quit claimed for themselves and the heirs of of Ela to John and his heirs, and they warranted. For this John gave Robert and Ela 100 marcs of silver. William de Carent put in his claim. (S) Feet of Fines, Yeovil.

6/15/1346, Order not to molest William de Carente of Dorset who has paid 40s for the expenses of one archer to go with the king in the king's service at his next crossing beyond seas. (S) CFRs.

A messuage, 2 carucates and 2a. land, 28a. meadow, 4a. pasture, 4a. wood and 30s. rent, held for his life jointly with Joan his wife, who still survives … by the grant of John de Carente and Walter le Hare, by fine levied in the king’s court at York on the quinzaine of Easter, 12 Edward III, … Somerset: Henton St. George. A messuage, 60a. land, 9 1/2a. meadow, 4a. pasture, 1/4a. wood and £4 rent, … He died on Thursday the feast of the Holy Innocents last. William his son, aged 2 years and more, is his next heir. … (S) CIsPM.

6/13/1347, To Thomas Cary, escheator in co. Dorset. Order not to intermeddle further with a messuage, …, restoring the issues thereof to Joan late the wife of William de Carente, as the king has learned … that William at his death held the premises jointly with Joan for their lives of the grant of John de Carente and Walter le Hare by a fine levied in the king's court. 8/15/1349, Assignment of dower to Joan, wife of William Carent, out of the said lands, being lands in Heenton St. George; and at Kyngeston and Merssh. (S) CIsPM.
