1830, James lives in the Western Division of Blount Co., TN with his parents: ... 1m 15-19 (James), ... 1m 40-49 (Andrew); ... 1f 40-49 (Winifred). (S) U.S. 1830 Census.

1/22/1839, James married Sarah in Blount Co., TN.

1840, James F Early, age 20-30, lives in Blount Co., TN; next to Albert P Early of the same age group. A female age 20-30 lives with him. No children. (S) U.S. 1840 Census.

7/9/1860, James Early is listed in the Hamilton Co., TN, agriculture census. He has farm equipment valued at $10. He also has 1 horse, 3 milk cows, and 1 other cow. He has 11 other small animals; total value $200. (S) U.S. 1860 Agriculture Census.

11/25/1863, James Early of the TN Confederate army captured at Chatanooga; then imprisoned at Louisville, KY. (S) U.S. Civil War Prisoner of War Rolls.

12/30/1870, James F Early of Chickamauga, Hamilton Co., TN, appointed as the Post Master. (S) U.S. Appointment of Post Masters.

6/21/1900, Sarah, “mother in law”, born Aug 1815, widow age 84, lives with her daughter Narcissa “Jane” and her family in Hamilton Co., TN. She was born in TN, her parents in Scotland. Sarah can read and write. (S) U.S. 1900 Census.

7/8/1905, Sarah died in Hamilton Co., TN. Obituary of Sarah: “Mrs. Saarh A. Early, widow of the late Jas. F. Early and sister of the late John L. Divine, of this city, is dead at the home of her daughter. Mrs. L. W. Coleman near Soddy, Tenn., at the age of 90 years. She was born near Maryville, two years after her parents came to this county from Scotland, and one year after the close of the war of 1812. The funeral was held at the Presbyterian church this morning.”

iv. Allison Andrew Early, born 2/3/1850 in TN.

Andrew married Rebecca Jane Hatcher (b.1853, d.1928).

7/11/1920, Andrew died in Park Springs, Wise Co., TX; buried in Gibtown Cem.

v. Samuel Early (30), born 10/1853 in TN.
