1768, Nancy born in NC, d/o 178. John Anthony & 179. Ursula Jones.
1783, Benjamin “Jr” was in Middle Prct., Middlesex Co.,VA. (S) VA Tax List. [The previous year only his father was listed.]
Nancy 1st married Enoch Stone.
4/4/1788, Middlesex Co., Va, Chancery Suits: Bonds of Thomas Critendon, …, Benjamin Kidd, Jr.
1790, Benjamin in Caswell Co., NC. (S) St. David’s Dist. Tax Record. [The Census for NC for this district was lost].
Benjamin married Nancy.
11/29/1797, William Anglin sold 250 acres on county line at Rolens Fork to Benjamin Kidd. (S) Caswell Co., DB 1777-1817, P181.
3/26/1798, Will of William Anglin: “son John to get obligation on Benjamin Kidd for 51£ 12 shilling.” (S) Caswell Co., WB-E, P6. [Benjamin also witnessed the will.]
(S) 1800 Census, NC, Caswell Co. William and James born 1790–1800. One younger son probably died before 1820. He is not mentioned in the will. 3 females unknown.
1810, (S) 1810 Census, NC, Surry Co. Benjamin is married with 3 sons and 3 daughters at home.
1820, (S) 1820 Census, NC, Surry Co., Capt. Wynfreys Distr. Benjamin’s son James lives next to him. 1 male, 4 females at home. [Note: son William Kidd lived in Williamson Co., TN in 1820.]
1823, in Williamson Co., TN, bill-of-sale from Thomas Griggs to Benjamin Kidd.
1830, (S) 1830 Census, TN, Williamson Co. Benjamin has 4 slaves. James does not have any slaves.
3/23/1831, Nancy died in Williamson Co., TN.
2/17/1832, Benjamin wrote his will; sons William and James appointed executors along with James Johnson.
7/27/1832, Benjamin died in Williamson Co., TN. Both are buried in the Kidd Family Cem., Nolensville, Williamson Co., TN [located on the Nichols farm at Pike and Kidd roads]. Benjamin left son James the 136-acre tract he had lived on, and a mill with all the wheat and grain, etc.

Children of Benjamin and Nancy:

i. James Kidd, born 8/27/1793 in NC.
James married Elizabeth ?, born 1800 in SC. [Multiple genealogies have him married to Frances Gooch of NC. This is not supported by the census data.]
1820, (S) 1820 Census, NC, Surry Co., Capt. Wynfreys Distr. He lives next to his father. 2 young sons and 2 young daughters.
1830, Williamson Co., TN. See No.88.
(S) 1840 Census, TN, Williamson Co., James 30-40, 2 sons 15-20, 3 females 10-30, wife 40-50.
9/7/1850, (S) 1850 Census, TN, Williamson Co., James born 1793 in NC, he is a farmer with real estate valued at $7028. 1 son, age 29, at home. His wife is “E” born 1800 in SC.
8/6/1860, (S) 1860 Census, TN, Williamson Co., Franklin. James is a farmer with real estate valued at $29,000 and a personal estate of $25,000; married to Elizabeth. William Kidd, 35, and Ann ?, 23, live with them.
11/30/1864, the Battle of Franklin has been called “the bloodiest hours of the American Civil War.” One of the few night battles in the Civil War; it was also one of the smallest battlefields. The Union had ~2500 casualties; the confederacy ~7000 – including 15 of 28 Generals.
10/5/1869, James died; buried with his parents.
[No “Kidd” family is not found in Williamson Co. in 1870 – most Kidd’s are found in Blount Co.]

Tabitha Kidd, born ~1826 in TN.
4/22/1840, “Tabitha daughter of James Kidd died Williamson Co., Tenn., April 22, 1840 aged about 14 years old. (S) Western Weekly Review Franklin, TN. [Note that her maternal great-grandmother was named Tabitha.]
G W Kidd, born 1832 in TN.
(S) 1860 Census, TN, Williamson Co., Franklin. He lives next to his parents; 6 children and other family members live with them.

ii. William Kidd ( 44), born 1795 in NC.
