Cox 92 Fournier-Karcaux

92. Andre Joseph Fournier & 93. Maria Juana Karcaux [LA, MS]

~1745 Andre born.
1/20/1749, Marie baptized in New Orleans, d/o 82. Nicholas Pierre Carco & 187. Marie Josefa Tara.
~1785 in the LA Terr., Andre married Maria. [Likely in New Orleans.]
[8/8/1795, on Haiti’s southern peninsula, “Mr. Andre Fournier” leased negros from Mr. Durbu (called Fournier). (S) Jeremie papers, Records of Notary Fergon.]
(S) 1820 Census, MS, JaxCo. Andre Sr. lives next to his daughter-in-law Catherine. Andre Jr is off working in LA. Even though this lists a m>45, this is not Andre Jr46, or Catherine would not have been listed as the head of the household. He is probably one of their brothers. Note that one person is not naturalized – probably Andre.

Family notes:
• (S) 1830 Census, MS, JaxCo.
• Andre is sometimes cited as born in St-Thomas, Montmagny, Québec, Canada, s/o Pierre B Fournier and Marie Madeleine Morin. This is incorrect. This Andre married Marie-Luce Baily and died in St-Pie-de-Bagot 7/24/1837 with Marie his spouse named and still living.
• Antoine Fourneur, with a wife and child is listed in the 1721 census of Biloxi & Mobile. Andre possibly a child of Jean Fournier ¬– native of St Laurent du Pont, Diocese of Grenoble, Dauphine & Marie Anne Rabouin, married 8/6/1720 in New Orleans. (S) SLC, MB1, P2.

Children of Andre and Marie:

i. Andre Fournier ( 46), born 1786 in New Orleans Parish, LA.
